Cider Stew
What You need:
3 tbsp all-purpose flour
2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1/4 tsp thyme (dried and crushed)
2 lb beef stew meat
3 tbsp cooking oil
2 cups apple cider
1 tbsp vinegar
4 carrots chopped
3 potatoes peeled and chopped
2 onions sliced
1 rib celery sliced
1 apple peeled and chopped
How To Make It
Combine flour, salt, pepper, and thyme; toss with meat to coat.
In a large skillet brown the stew meat in hot oil.
Place chopped vegetables in a 6 qt. crock pot, add apple.
Drain meat well and add to crock pot.
Combine cider and vinegar and pour over the meat and vegetables.s.
Cover and cook on low for 10 hour.
To thicken sauce, combine 1/2 cup of cold water with 1/4 cup of all-purpose flour and stir into stew. Turn slow cooker to high setting and cook for an additioinal 15 minutes.
Season to taste with salt and pepper.
Makes 6 to 8 servings.









I’m a little confused. It says to add apple with the veggies but there is no apple on the list. I thought it was the apple cider but it says to add that with the meat. I’ve never heard of apple cider with beef stew but it sounds pretty good.
Yummm, I’ll make this next week to take out to my daughters. The apple and cider will help in tenderizing the beef.
