In the summer it is wonderful - I have it on an outside porch, so the kitchen doesn't heat up at all! And of course, in the winter it keeps the kitchen smelling delish! I even decided to try 2 crockpots, so I picked up another at the same thrift store where I found my first. Sure enough, on the day I brought it home, I made yogurt in one and mac'n'cheese in the other. I try to use my crockpot whenever possible.
